EURO 2024: Germany Triumphs in Munich, Tops Group A
Munich, Germany – Germany has emerged victorious in their opening match of the 2024 European Football Championship.
Florian Wirtz scored the tournament's first goal, securing a 1-0 win against a tough opponent.
The match at Munich's Allianz Arena saw Germany dominate possession and create numerous scoring opportunities. Wirtz's goal came in the 20th minute, as he slotted home a low shot from close range.
Germany continued to press for more goals, but were unable to find the back of the net again. Despite the narrow margin of victory, the win was a significant statement for the host nation, who will be looking to add to their three previous European Championship titles.
The victory puts Germany at the top of Group A, which also includes Portugal, France, and Hungary. The team will now face Hungary in their next match on June 20th.
